Slab Leak Repair a True Story

Slab leak repair Scripps Ranch access holes in kitchen ceiling
Imagine this. You finally have the kitchen of your dreams. Beautiful cabinets, tile work and the flooring you have always wanted. You barely have the oppurtunity to prepare those fabulous meals there, when you realize that the hot spot that has appeared under your new flooring is a hot water pipe under the concrete that is leaking so bad that it is heating up the floor and you need slab leak repair.

Your heart sinks at the thought of ripping into the floor with a jackhammer. Will repair take tearing out your beautiful new cabinets that you have barely even had the chance to completely pay for. This is a true story.

Our customer was obviously distressed when they contacted us. It felt good to be able to answer their questions and alleviate so many of their fears. They were assured that tearing up the flooring in order to make the slab leak repair was an absoulte last resort. In fact it is so rare we haven't had to do it in years. We also assured them that we would do all we could to cause as little damage as absolutely necessary. First we needed to take a look.

or It was more complicated than ususal, especially since Timo didn't want to touch the kitchen cabinets not even to make a small cut in the back of a cabinet itself. However with the experience Timo has and literally sleeping on it, he managed to make the slab leak repair which requires rerouting around the leaking pipe under the concrete slab without touching the cabinets or back splash or tearing up the floor.

In all, 6 small to medium size cuts in the drywall were made. One hole in the closet, one behind the fridge and 2 in the drywall only behind lower cabinets. Only two were clearly visible in the kitchen ceiling. The new pipe was fished through these small holes connecting to existing pipe bypassing the failed length of copper pipe. Our customers did not have to leave their home & the minimal damage to drywall is an easy repair with our recommendations.

What makes our slab leak repair process so painless you might ask? It's a strong plumbing background. Having a clear understanding of how water lines should have been routed under the concrete, in the walls and overhead in your celing while under construction. Timo has plumbed many very complex water systems during his years of plumbing experience as a custom home plumber. It isn't just the fact that a reroute is necessary, but what your plumbing contractors knows will determine how much damage a plumber could do to your home.
