Underground Slab Leaks

At Leak Star our specialties are locating your plumbing leaks whether in the walls or under your concrete slab and slab leak repair. Slab leaks are one of the plumbing leaks that can be trickier to find as you can imagine, making it important to hire a slab leak detection specialist. Making the repairs can be a bit complicated too.

You may be able to visibly see the water as it seeps up through cracks and seams looking like your slab is leaking. You be able to feel a hot spot on your floor. However finding where the water is coming from is never clearly visible on sight.

If you are not careful in your choice of the leak detection company you choose, you may very well end up with several exploratory holes drilled through your concrete. Those kinds of repairs can be expensive.

At Leak Star we have the highly specialized leak detection equipment. Using specific tools helps to narrow down the scope of where to look so you don't have to aimlessly jackhammer concrete or dig holes around the exterior of your home looking for that single plumbing pipe that is responsible.

Once we have located the source of the slab leak responsible for your water woes we can also make the slab leak repair. You will usually have a couple of options to consider when making your slab leak repairs.  With our expertise we will help you chose the right option for your home and financial situation.

  • In Floor Repair: This type of repair requires removal of the flooring and concrete to access the leak. This option can be particularly difficult due to post-tension slab (contain rebar). Honestly we almost never sue this option even if your insurance company says it's your only choice.
  • Water Line Re-route: This option is usually what we recommend. We bypass the leaking pipe altogether going around from another route, mostly up and over. Leaving an already leaky pipe functioning in the ground will likely have you dealing with another slab leak in the near future. We use PEX pipe for most of our pipe rerouting.

  • Rising water bill.
  • You may hear running water when there is no water running in the house.
  • Hot spot on the floor.
